FTEC2017 FEATURED FIGHTER | WILLIAM IAFANO

Leading up to Fight Night we will be featuring one of the incredible men and women who have joined the Fight to End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

Meet our #FeaturedFighter, out of the Red Corner, William Iafano, sponsored by State Window Corp.
Bout 1 Fighter, Will ‘The Thrill’ Iafano is yet another legacy fighter (as we like to call them), joining the ranks of #FTEC2015 fighter Sean Donovan and #FTEC2016 Main Event Fighter, Cory Raymond who both work at PLC alongside William.  PLC has yet to produce a loss in the ring.

“I work for PCL Constructors Canada Inc. as a Project Coordinator, and I am the third consecutive fighter from PCL fighting in the Fight to End Cancer.  I’ve only been with PCL for 4 years, but have been on some great projects, such as the BMO Field Roof Expansion and the Billy Bishop Terminal Airport Upgrade.”

Who will you be dedicating your fight to?

“Just like everyone, I have felt the devastating outcome of cancer whether it’s from a family member or friend.  I’m fighting for my Grandmother who once beat the long road of lung cancer, but unfortunately, years later, couldn’t fight off the second round of its return.”

William’s fundraising goal is $20,000 for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.  He is just around 20% of the way there, so he’s looking for your support.  Please make a donation towards Will’s goal HERE.  Reminder that all donations of over $15 receive a tax receipt!

What advantages do you think you have over your opponent and how do you see your fight going?

” I think my speed will be something I can rely on, it has always worked for me in the past when running from the police.  Playing a lot of physical sports growing up has taught me how to take a hit so I’m not too worry about getting my bell rung.  I just need to stay cool, calm and collectted when fighting and wait for him to make the right mistake.”

Thoughts on the experience so far?

“I have a whole new appreciation for the sport of boxing and what it actually takes to be able to contest in the ring.  I thought I knew what drove me, and I always thought of myself as a strong, determined person – until I started training at Kingsway I’ve experienced lots of surprises and lots of new self-discoveries!”

NOTE: We believe that William is joking about running from the police, but we cannot confirm that 100%.
